We were in a situation yesterday where we needed to try an educational app for a class of 32 students. I had took the time to test the game, unblock all the necessary ports and addresses on the local sophos UTM, all of which I was able to do instantly.
As the student accounts have stricter application control rules in Sophos Central, we realised that during the lesson the application needed to be unblocked.
I was in complete dismay at the fact there was nothing whatsoever to force a policy update to the clients, and a whole hour of learning was wasted because of this.
It's unacceptable to push for cloud managed threat/application management if it offers poorly implemented policy control.
I see this was requested over a year ago and nothing has been actioned yet. Sophos have not offered a workaround, but I found that moving clients into a group seemed to initiate a update, but we can't do that every time a policy needs updating. I'm failing to see the advantages of cloud managed system if these basic, expected options are castrated.
Please implement a policy update feature on the clients!
Or at the very least, a script or command line!
