@Bob: The DNS server returns all of them and the client picks one
This is usually used to implement a cheap round-robin solution.

Note that at least some DSL routers can be configured to just act as a DSL modem, which might be a usable work-around for the time being. This will of course not work if you want to use any of the other features of the router, like e.g. WLAN
