  1. Recover deleted items

    Sometimes emails get deleted by Email Gateway. Many times it is correct but there are times when it is not. Currently we have no way to recover a message that has been deleted. Rather than automatically dumping them, it would be helpful to allow messages to move to an admin only area to be reviewed and possibly downloaded directly from the portal, or released if it is determined that there is a need. A good example, we had an wayward block rule deleting all email from gmail.com. After finding the issue it would have been super helpful to go back…

  3. Users have no idea of missing emails quarantined due to attachment file type

    Hi, please consider this simple suggestion.

    Ability to include quarantined messages by reason "Attachment file type" in the quarantine summary but without the "release" option to keep them safe from themselves.

    Some messages that are not flagged as spam/bulk with attachments get flagged and sent to quarantine due to potential threats, but no one other than admins can see them. Unless you have a dedicated resource monitoring this quarantined list, users will never know about these messages.

  5. More detailed information in logs, reports

    Hello,
    I have several items that would make Sophos Email gateway more useful.
    1. A detailed report showing what Sandstorm actually caught. From an admin's point of view just knowing something happened is not useful. If I had an idea of where a message came from and why it tripped Sandstorm, I could possibly make adjustments to protect us better in the future.
    2. A clear reason on the summary page on why a message was deleted or quarantined would be helpful. While you can usually figure it out in the message source information, that is not very time efficient.…

  6. Ability to import/export Whitelists

    When migrating third party or existing Sophos email protection solutions to Email Gateway there is currently no way to import a txt or csv Whitelist, as per other email protection solution providers, including existing Sophos applications.

    This would be a very useful feature to have, particularly when a partner has many customers that could utilise a common Whitelist that the administrator can apply easily across the board and especially when an individual customer has built a list of several thousand domains that it would not be convenient to add to their new Cloud Gateway, one at a time.

  7. Central Email: Add the ability to add IPs to the allow list

    Submitting on behalf of client:

    In the allow/block list customers only have the ability to add IPs/subnet ranges to the block list. Having the ability to add IPs to the allow list as well would only make sense and seem logical.

    This would be an important feature to restrict access to an IP only and not a whole domain which can easily be spoofed. Reference XGE-5239 for adding IP to blocklist.

  8. Allow adding to Allow or Block lists from quarantine.

    I find myself copy and pasting frequently from the quarantine list, and bouncing between "Quarantine" and "Settings", because I want to simultaneously release an email and "Allow" that domain. Or, I want to delete that email and "Block" the domain.

    I'd like, if I selected an email in quarntine, to be able to click a button that performs a "release and allow" or "delete and block" which would either release or delete the email, then popup the domain in an "Allow" or "Block" for the domain.   9. Allow end users to whitelist senders/domains from their quarantine

    Allow end users to whitelist senders/domains from their quarantine self service.
    Currently, genuine emails can only be whitelisted by an administrator on an organisational level.

  10. Better logging in email gateway

    I recently ran into an issue where all emails from gmail.com were being deleted. I could not figure out what was going on. I called support and they helped me solve the issue which turned out to be a wayward rule. My issue is the logging is so obtuse in Email Gateway that you can't really tell why something was deleted. There should be a simple note on the message as to why it was deleted. Was it an advanced threat, triggered by a block rule, malware, etc. There should also be verbose logging that lets you see the message…

  11. AD Sync Tool - Disabled "Shared" Mailbox Accounts

    The AD Sync Tool currently does not allow us to sync "Shared" mailbox accounts because they are disabled as is best practice for Microsoft. This creates a significant manual process for us not only to have to create a "Distribution List" account directly
    in Email Gateway, but we also have to be sure to replicate all aliases associated with each one or no mail gets delivered. It seems a simple update to the AD Sync Tool that would allow us to sync "disabled" mailbox accounts would remedy the problem.

  12. control the behaviour of the SPF filter

    Please add the ability to control the behaviour of the SPF filter. For example by allowing messages that have been filtered to be sent to quarantine, rather than simply rejected at the SMTP level. This should include separate controls for both a hard fail and soft fail criteria. Thank you.

  13. Email Gateway - Delivery Status

    The delivery status shows either "Delivery successful" or "Delivery failed" but it also shows "Delivery successful" if just one recipient got the mail successful.
    For example: if just one of five recipient gets the mail and it fails on four of them, it will show "Delivery successful". Maybe there should be a status like "Delivery partially successful" for those cases.

  14. Office 365 API support

    Please tool the email gateway to have the ability to login via the Office 365 API to pull a mailbox list. Right now we sync AD from our internal domain to Central. However this does not get all valid mailboxes in that we have a number of O365 groups and distribution lists that don't live in Active Directory. If the email gateway could simply pull the list of valid addresses from O365 like some competitor products it would save quite a bit of manual mailbox additions.

  15. SPF

    SPF on Central Email is missing a critical feature (emails blocked due to SPF are NOT LOGGED!!!).

    Central email can finally be set to do SPF checks however there is NO LOGGING or reporting of emails that are rejected/blocked due to SPF FAILS - this detail is simply missing so it is not possible for Central Email customers to determine what emails have been rejected due to SPF FAILS!
    This means that you could come up to Central Email because a client has complained that they sent an email which we didnt respond to, never received - we could search…

  16. Update Whitelist to include exemptions for Spoof Protection

    Currently the whitelist will only exempt a domain from being caught as spam.
    Some 3rd party cloud reporting software legitimately spoof your domain to send you reports, these trigger the Spoof protection and the only options you have are to Tag, quarantine or delete... Users want to receive these emails without being tagged or quarantined.

    Can you update the Whitelist to have an option to exclude senders from Spoof Protection.

  17. Improve the quarantine to actually show if a message is BULK, SPOOF or SPAM

    Currently you cannot distinguish if an email is spam, spoof or bulk in the quarantine.
    This needs to be clearly visible to the end user so they know why the message has been caught.
    Also an option to filter to show just one type would be good, e.g. show all spam, or show spam and spoof - a tick box to show each type would be good.

  18. Users/Email Sync from Office 365

    Sync email addresses from Office 365 rather than AD. Sync from AD causes an issue if you have lots of shared Mailboxes, they need to be added/removed manually from the console. Also if you use SharePoint or Teams where users have the ability to create Office 365 groups and associated email addresses these are not added into the Sophos portal so all inbound email is bounced. Also since Sync deletes any manual entries we have to turn it off but that causes issues when we have new starters especially grad programs where 40-50 start at a time, they all needed…

  19. Geoblocking

    Please add the ability to geo block email sources. Some of your competitors allow you to block by country code from those areas you know you don't want mail from. While you can block top level domains like *.cn that is not always useful in that sometimes a message has a .com but originates in a place like Russia or China.

  20. Quarantine digest needs to be configurable to send more than once per day

    Sophos Central's Email Gateway Policy's should allow for more configure options in regards to email messages that are quarantined. Currently, it is not possible to configure the quarantine notification that goes out to all users more than once a day. We are requesting that an enhancement be programmed into the rules for quarantined messages notification allow customers to setup notifications more than once a day. Additionally, some users may want notifications as the messages are quarantined based upon the reason category, or for all categories regardless. Receiving digest emails of messages caught in quarantine sometimes 24 hours after a message…
