ARM Processor Support
With the advent of the Surface Pro X, there is becoming a push for more 2-in-1 devices to work on ARM technology (as is found in most cell phones and tablets) to run full Windows OS's. However, there is no support for Endpoint Protection (Cloud or On-Prem) for these types of devices. I would like to see an Endpoint Protection package (Anti-virus, firewall, application control, etc.) that will support ARM processors.
We purchased 10 new Surface Pro X devices as well and just found this out. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but surprised for sure.
It's disappointing that there are no comments from Sophos in this thread regarding if it's on the roadmap.
One of our clients has run into this issue after purchasing about 45 of the Surface Pro tablets.
Sophos, are we going to get this or not? Is it in development? On anyone's radar?
If not, it needs to be.
This will become a key reason to have customers move to another provider. Please get this sorted ASAP.
Under review since December of 2019 with no updates?
Any update on this?
Just like users below, I only found out Sophos doesn't support the Surface Pro X after purchasing a Pro X and going to download the Sophos installer.
A version of Sophos that works on the Pro X, needs to be released ASAP.
I have purchased a few Surface Pro X machines and found out that Sophos does not support ARM processors. Is this something in the works?
When can we expect an ARM installer?
Multiple customers require ARM support. Is this on any roadmap?
Please support this! With the remote workforce growing, there is a HIGH demand for these devices.
Yeah - this is becoming a major issue as clients are deploying Surface Pro X devices and we cannot support them with Sophos Intercept X. When will this be resolved please Sophos? I only found out today when deploying to a new device, and I'm stuck having to rely on Windows Defender (yuck).
Please support Sophos InterceptX for Microsoft Surface Pro X using the Microsoft® SQ1™ ARM processor ASAP - this is going to become more and mroe of an issue for IT teams going forward.
Apple will also use ARM starting Q4 2020. Please support this.
Any idea to roll out the Sophos Endpoint for Surface Pro X?I just bought the license and found out not suitable for ARM processor.
This thread begun in October 2019 (having Sophos for ARM devices). Now we are reaching the 2nd half of 2020 and still no inidication if Sohpos will pick this up? Really?
Any update? Microsoft and Apple are going to be pushing these ARM processors out and Sophos and apple have had a good relationship so far.
please get app for ARM device!
Any updates on this item? Our School District purchased these devices for our new Technology/science lab and now we are unable to protect them. This is an urgent need for the upcoming school year. Thank You.

Just purchased the Surface Pro X for my sales team. I went to install Sophos Endpoint on the 1st machine and it caused a issue and I had to restore it. This needs to be fixed ASAP, I pay for Sophos Licenses that I can't use now and my machines will not be protected. If not solved soon, I will be forced to find a new Endpoint product that will work.
Installer caused Surface Pro X to fail at booting Windows, requiring a reset. If this feature is under review, it would be nice to have the installer detect the ARM processor and full stop instead of attempting to install despite clear incompatibility.
