uninstalling endpoint protection windows
Need a reliable procedure for uninstalling the endpoint agent, or ideally, a proper product uninstallation utility, which Support have told us does not exist.
We need to be able to uninstall the endpoint agent completely in order to test suspected incompatibilities with some of our LOB software. Anyone also needs to be able to completely uninstall a product when they are trialling it and then decide not to proceed.
The gui and cli-based procedure outlined in KB122126 is error-prone and often fails either completely or part-way. Removing then the remnants using MSFix individually does work but leaves behind several registry entries corresponding to several SAV processes which can only be removed either manually or using a registry cleaner.
Using the MSFix was suggested by Support and is this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed
This is all repeatable on several PCs and is far from ideal.
This is a major fail for a leading product such as Sophos Central. A product which is this hard to uninstall is not a product that many organisations are able to accept.
a complete removal option is being developed for the Central installer, if you are having issues right now please contact support
How do the **** do I uninstall Sophos Health Service???? I have wasted an entire day trying to rid of it. I've tried 3 different scripts and it's still stuck in Services and is blocking another software from installing.
Hello, I installed Sophos and cannot uninstall it, and I am a novice. I have tried to use my system resotre but cannot do that, so I must live with present issues as Sophos will not allow me to do much in fixing my computer. This is a true nightmare, and I am retired, elderly, and cannot afford to pay someone to reinstall windows ten for me for that is grocery money. Can you just send me an uninstaller to use please? I would be so gratefull . This has been ****.

No change in almost 3 years. Not good folks. This is a show stopper for recommending this product. Business CANNOT install this software with no reasonable way to uninstall.
1. Make sure there is a local admin account you can log in to
2. Reboot into safe mode (msconfig.exe)
3. Stop Sophos Antivirus service if it is running (sc stop SAVservice)
4. Import tamper protection registry entries
5. Reboot into normal mode (msconfig.exe)
6. Uninstall Sophos (appwiz.cpl or "C:\Program Files\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Agent\uninstallgui.exe")
7. Reboot to complete uninstall
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sophos MCS Agent]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Sophos Endpoint Defense\TamperProtection\Config]
In the same boat. How's the complete removal option going? Other leaders in this quadrant like Symantec and Kaspersky already have this place. Little surprised you guys don't.
totaly wate of time
uninstall is totally very and very time consuming. I regret that day when i installed the trail version. Will never trust sophos again
I completely agree this is a ridiculous method to remove a program. Do you think by making it difficult for us to remove your agents we will just keep using your product? Or is it just laziness that you haven't put a simple uninstall utility together ?
