  3. Increase number of APs for basic guard subscription

Today the maximum number of access points for basic guard subscription is only one. Even in small envirenments there should be at least two access points to be allowed to cover the whole building of a firm.

  4. Have the ability to bind a hotspot to a vlan

We currently have all our AP's on the network which are scattered around the place on different switches, which all connect back to the internal interface on the firewall. We would like to be able to use the hotspot feature by being able to bind it to a vlan instead of having to bind it to an interface which is the limitation we currently have as if we bind the hotspot to an interface as is currently then all our users will get the splash screen to logon and will require a voucher, which is not what we want. We…

  5. Wireless Protection: Bridge wireless interfaces to local interfaces

Currently, wlan interfaces can not be used in bridge configurations. It would be great to be able to bridge wlan interfaces to local interfaces (and/or an existing bridge)

  6. Hotspot: Is it possible to customize or edit the script vor Voucher?

When creating or printing the WiFi Vouchers the access code is above, and down tha password for our WiFi, but this must be the other way around! On the first place our WiFi-Password and on second place the Voucher code. Is it possible to customize or edit the script?

  7. voucher printer

I think its necessary to make it possible to print vouchers directly. In the Moment in all Web-Browsers you click on "generate" then it opens a download (in chrome you have to confirm the download) then in PDF-viewer you have to go...
    thats to tedious.
So please embed an generic/text driver or better sell an "Sophos-Printer" for this solution (like Brother Ql-Series)

  8. Wireless: Rogue access point detection

The UTM should be able to detect rogue access points surreptitiously added to the network.

  9. Authentication: Use Wireless Credentials for other UTM modules

Passing the authentication credentials from 802.1X WPAx enterprise authentication to other UTM modules would enable seamless SSO for wirelessly connected devices and would be particularly useful for authentication of mobile devices.

  10. Use DHCP Static Entries in Wireless Client List

Right now if you create a static DHCP reservation and its a wireless client, you have to create a new wireless client entry to get a 'vanity' name on that client. It would prefer to just pick up on the DHCP static entry name and carry it over.

  12. Wireless Protection: Licencing IP Count Hotspot Mode (Voucher)

    UTM Virtual Appliance - Licensing:
If you implenet a Guest WLAN using Hostspot Mode with voucher every connection attempt counts as a used IP because the DCHP server provides a valid IP.
The IP shoud only count if you also have a valid vouchercode.

  13. Wireless: Improve Firmware update process

Currently a power outage for example can damage the APs when hit in the middle of a firmware update. Improve the firmware update process to minimize or even better to eliminate the possibility of breaking the AP.

Under Review  ·  Martin Becker responded

This problem is acknowledged, although it’s difficult to solve for the current access points. For next-gen APs however I envision a unbreakable firmware so that the AP can fall back to the previously installed FW in case the update fails.

  14. Wireless: Blink LEDS to Locate AP

In environments with lots of AP's, it would be nice if we could set a "locate" flag in the WebAdmin which would cause all the LED lights to blink steadily. This way if they are not labelled correctly or have been moved, we could visually walk around and locate the AP.

  15. Remove the "upstream" requirement

Currently, the ASG needs to be in the "upstream" direction of the data from the APs, i.e. the ASG which is used as a wireless controller must be the default gateway or on the default route on the way to the internet to establish communication with the AP.
It would be nice if communication with the AP would also work if both devices are in the same broadcast domain without being in the default route, this would ease a quick test setup.

  16. Radius Username at Status Screen

At the Wireless Status screen we have the client list.
For services using .1X (radius) it would be useful to se the actual usernames loged on.

  17. Different Userlevels for Voucher Administration

Implement different userlevels for voucher administration. It would be usefull to have a user to administrate the vouchers like now and another one, who is only able to create vouchers. Not every receptionist has to be capable of deleting vouchers, if you need them for statutory requirements.

  18. Wireless Protection: Wireless EAP for user authentication

Currently, the AP communicates with the backend authentication directly (using the ASG as destination, which DNATs the traffic to the configured backend).

Use the ASG to authenticate against when using radius authentication. This would enable useful things like automatic user creation, additional reporting (client usernames), better debugging, code centralization. It could also fix subtle problems because the source IP of the radius request does not match the source address contained in the request.

  19. Wireless: Mounting clips for drop-ceilings

It would be awesome if the AP's could just clip right onto a drop ceiling bracket.

  20. Set IP Address manually to Access Point

It would be great, if i can set the IP Address to Access Points manually and not via DHCP.
