Customized Time for Log File Deletion
delete the log files should be possible to be awarded a free period.
currently, the log files are deleted only after predefined periods. we need as But a period of only 2 months
The ability to define exactly the period of Log File Detention would be a good addition to the functionality of the Sophos UTM. We are required to retain logs for at least 6 months to service Freedom Of Information (FOI) requests for Internet usage. Anything over that is unnecessary and a waste of space. We currently Syslog the Webfilter logs in realtime to a third party product (not iView!!) to produce reports on usage to service FOI requests. As the original request for this feature was made in 2010 I don't see Sophos doing anything about this in the near future, but we'll see.
Yes a similar list as that used for report data retention would be great. We'd only want to keep a few weeks worth of most of the system logs on the UTM but we'd keep 3 months worth of web filter logs on the UTM. We're configured to delete older files as neccessary to maintain log disk space so I manually delete system logs to try to keep UTM from deleting web filter logs.

We have a requirement for retention of 6 Months of activity, but the current choices only allow us to select 1 Year so we have to keep 6 months of data we are not interested in.
An option to select a Delete Logs after custom with a text box entry to allow a number of days to be retained seems like a very simple option to add.
At the very least a 6 months option should be trivial to add to the drop down list.
More variations in the drop down list would be grate.

...or at least more variation in what is offered in the drop down list.
There are too many options for short periods and then nothing between 3 months and 1 year.
