Application Control: Customer-defined application definitions
Should allow customers to add their own applications in the list.
This allows the customer to update faster its own list of applications

Many of us are Network Administrators with programming experience. Please don't underestimate our abilities.
If Sophos won't let us add our own application definitions, then they need to respond to requests to add Applications in a timely matter. I see requests over 2 years old! That is unacceptable.

This is definitely needed. I have several "unclassified" applications and cannot throttle or shape their usage. One application is "Wuala.com" which is a secure online storage service based out of Switzerland. All of my documents are encrypted locally then stored on their servers. That application needs to be preferred over all other traffic except VOIP. Right now, there is no way to do that, that I know of.
The "Application Control" is not updated as needed! There are so many apps that cannot be blocked, especially in a school setting!
I aggree: It should be possible to build own applications.
One type of an user defined application should be based on regulare-expresions for http(s) traffic.
This would allow to throttle bandwith of individual sites rather than
only IP-Based QOS-Throttlng.
While it is highly unlikely an end user could write their own application control rules with effectiveness, i'll leave the feature open as perhaps in the future this might be possible to make easier and thus a viable option, but it won't be anytime soon.
