XF firewall with Sandstorm and Heartbeat for home users
Could Sophos consider to allow the use of sandstorm and heartbeat (with sophos free AV) for home users and increasing the ip limit to 100 (IoT is around the corner) for a price per year? 10$?
If there is other people interested it could be another stream of incomes from sophos and at then end the use that the home users will do of sandstorm will be extremely limited compared with a company with thousands of users.
I agree with a lot of the feedback on here. It would be great if Sophos created a home user license that actually was the full commercial grade XG system. Example would be look at what Untangle has done. The created a model for their product, which includes all features at the rate of $50.00 per year for home use only. They limited to 75 IP's and that is enough for IoT in homes. Point being, is if they can do it, so could Sophos.
Being able to deploy a far more cost-effective option to every single home user out there would be a huge step forward for the MSP side of this. I believe Sophos has a great chance to capture this market given it's free products now.
I'd also like to mention that Black Cipher Security has shown many of the standard suites including Sophos being bypassed. Proving it will become inevitable for households to have a product like the Sophos XG firewall for any worthwhile protections.
Opening up the doors for a subscription service will prove quite profitable.
If I could get a subscription for less than $300 a year I'd have at least 20 people completely covered in Sophos protections.
But, in that I'd want heartbeat at least, I feel that heartbeat would be one of the most unique and desirable components to this subscription. That is emphasising the fact that individual programs just are not enough anymore.
Let me put it this way, Sophos XG Home + internet security + heartbeat = superior competition to the Bitdefender box.
Sandstorm would be a beautiful addition of course, but I'd rather keep cost more inline to what households and solopreneur would be willing to pay.

While the use of sandstorm would be limited with a home user as compared to the thousands an organization would have, I feel like opening it up to home users would help Sophos Labs a great deal, as home computers would typically have all kinds of bizzare applications and other things installed that a business would never have. So in the end, it could help to improve application accuracy and analysis of new/evolving threats.
Maybe for sandstorm in the home user version (free) there could be a limit of 5 files per day smaller than 5 MB, taking into account that only suspicious files are uploaded to sandstorm this should be enough and avoid any abuse of the platform.
Regarding the IP limit I just notice that XG firewall doesn't have it anymore so forget it.
