RED: DSL/VDSL (PPPOE) Support
RED should be able to do DSL/VDSL (PPPOE), as this way it can be used with an ISP which is very common worldwide in requiring authentication against their modem.

After a careful review we decided to not include this feature in UTM 9.2. We are now considering it for the next feature release whose launch date has not been decided upon yet.

We have the same issue: we have a WISP that use PPPoE to give us the connection, using a ETHERNET cable connected to thair W-LAN Cambium WIspo Modem.
We need to have PPPoE option alongside DHCP or StaticIP on the WAN intervace

Hey guys, did you see the new modules for the new UTM appliances? There is one capable of doing ADSL/PPPoE all by itself. Sophos was able to come up with an ENTIRE modem inside the appliance, but can't add this to a firmware upgrade on the RED system. What a shame. A so well thought device being abandoned by the PMs. I miss the guys from Astaro so much.

I can't believe it is not in the firmware yet.

I can not believe the RED15w has not PPPoE feature. I need the RED to have a Public IP address. Martin's Becker posted over 4 years ago this will be added in next release. Still not there.

+1 4 PPPOE, really causing a problem with me for 2 remote sites, quite happy to use 3rd party modem, but need the public ip to be assigned at the RED not the modem!
Also the point of a red is to deploy centrally and send to site for ease of install, cant be done if the site engineer is to configure bridging etc in routers and modems. Might as well just use draytek and site to site!

Does this feature already exist? We have a client with number of branches on EFM network and the only way is to connect via PPPoE.

Is there an update available, that PPPoE for WAN-connection is available?

+1 4 PPPOE. Also widely used in Germany...

I agree with all the other users. PPOE is a must have for RED. A large percentage of remote offices either in the US or overseas rely on PPOE. Having to place a PPOE enabled router in front of the RED defeats the purpose.

PPPOE is also widely used in Australia not only with ADSL but with Ethernet over Copper as well. We have 10 branches currently using pppoe and had to purchase fortinet appliances instead as they had pppoe support and their appliance were cheaper than sophos!

Please reconsider this for 9.2

Would be good to reduce the point of failure.

It is just as vital for Germany as it is for Brasil. I also strongly advise to reconsider.
On a sidenote: UTM v10 seems to be FAR away, what timeframe are you considering for that release? Q4 2014? -

Please review again because PPoE is very usefull in Brasil and very, very necessary to release ASAP.

I don't find this feature in the 9.2 beta Version! Are there new RED Devices. What's the plan?
