  1. Make WIFI MAC randomization settings configurable

Android 10 and Apple iOS 14 devices use randomized MAC addresses when connecting to wireless networks to provide privacy for users.
Within most vendors NAC (Network Access Control) products and many network components, the MAC address is considered to be the unique identifier for a given endpoint.
Due to the MAC address randomization, this one-to-one mapping is no longer true and a single endpoint could end up generating multiple endpoint entries within the mentioned NAC solutions.

The next sections show how MAC address randomization is implemented on mobile endpoints:
    Google Android 10
    * Randomization is enabled by default.
    * When…

Under Review  ·  Thomas Lippert responded

Sophos is currently planning to extend the role based access in central to allow customer roles for each product. Once this feature is available, Sophos Mobile can be configured to have this capability. In Sophos Mobile on-premise, this functionality is already available

  3. iOS 13 User Enrollment

Implement the new user enrollment feature, which allows better integration of BYOB devices in the Apple world. This would bring it on par with the Android Enterprise Profile Owner feature...

  4. Enable single apps blocked by global android system apps setting

Currently it is possible to hide undeletable apps preinstalled by the vendor by deactivating system apps in the global settings fpr Android phones. Unfortunately you can't activate single apps later, these apps remain hidden and also can't be reinstalled from Google Play.
It would be very useful to have the possibility to activate single apps which have been blocked by the system apps setting.

  5. [Bug] Link Checker doesn't work on Google Pixel phones.

Sophos doesn't appear as a browser to select in the OS UI, which is required for link checker to work. See case number #9265549 for screenshots and further details.

  6. ActiveSync Device Family

Android is recognised as "AndroidSecurePIM" in Exchange, while iOS reports its version.
Why not "iOSSecurePIM"? Therefore an Exchange Quarantine and Device Policy can be used.

  7. Better EAS control for Office 365

Currently SMC 7.0 EAS proxy works with "SMC Managed" devices only; by sending the appropriate PowerShell commands to Office 365 back-end to deny/allow EAS functionality on non-compliant/compliant devices accordingly.

However the downside of this approach is that Exchange Autodiscover is set-up in DNS to point to Office 365 (as this is where the users mailbox now exists) and not the SMC server.

The end result is that if a user wants to set-up their mobile device and connect to Office 365 without the intervention and control of SMC, then they can do this very easily.

    Resulting in uncontrolled access to…
