Dynamic categorization is required to allow blocking of sites that contain objectionable content but are not categorized as such.
For example, in some cases customers find that allowing Uncategorized sites exposes users to objectionable content, but blocking Uncategorized sites blocks sites they need to access.
There are also situations where objectionable content might appear on categorized sites, which can be particularly problematic for school environments.18 votes
We are considering Dynamic Categorization as a feature for future releases.
Customer requested that these two items be split into separate categories as they would be unrelated for the most part.14 votes
Allow mDNS/Bonjour on the local LAN to work in the browsers. The web protection currently blocks them for no apparent reason.Put an option in the software to allow mDNS to work, it IS the age of iOT after all.5 votes
I think that it would help to allow the endpoint user the ability to add a site exception for a limited time or permanently. One would need an admin password that you'd need to specify at the web appliance or in the SEC. K9 works this way, and it saves a lot of admin time.3 votes
Despite the growing number of Social Networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, the Sophos Web Filter does not have a ‘Social Networking’ category, and instead places such sites in ‘Personals and Dating’ by default.
In our opinion, Personals/Dating sites are very different to Social Networking sites, the latter having a legitimate business need to be accessed by certain teams within the organisation, whereas the former does not.
Therefore, we request that you add ‘Social Networking’ to the list of website categories on the Sophos Web Filter, so that we can streamline appropriate access to such sites.3 votesUnder Review · AdminRich Baldry (Product Owner, Web Protection, Sophos Features & Ideas Laboratory) responded
We are adding the ability to manage access to major Social Web sites in version 4.0 of the Sophos Web Appliance
When a user provides a feedback/access request after seeing a block page, the SWA should send the user an email to confirm receipt of their submission. Otherwise, the user might wonder if it really happened.2 votes
We have always had an issue with websites which use CDN ( content Delivery Network) to host their media.
Majority of the times the sites are incorrectly categorised and we would need to go through the tedious task of sending a request for it to be reviewed. More often than none, these request get rejected and we need to put a manual override
Would it be possible to create new category called CDN so we can out a default access level and avoid any future issues with sites with CDNs.2 votes
as an extension, it would be highly useful to implement an option for adding additional RBLs in Webappliances (for example URLHAUS -> urlhaus(DOT)abuse(DOT)ch ).
Thanks for considering and
