Edit SafeGuard Management Console Computer Entries for Mac
When Macs get imported into the SafeGuard Console it takes the Netbios name from (System Preferences -> Network -> Advanced -> WINS -> NetBIOS). Macs often get named through the sharing preference (System Preferences -> Sharing) and often the names will differ especially when using dongle adapters for ethernet. You can set the name by editing /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.smb.server.
Even after editing that file, at times, computers get imported into the SafeGuard console and cannot be edited. If they're on VPN while accepting the offer then the name might come in as "asa-vpn-133-455" or "dhcp-144-678". These names cannot be edited and it poses a huge problem because if technicians are trying to recover a machine through the WebHelpDesk they'll look at the sharing name and attempt to recover to no avail because the name was imported as "dhcp-144-678" or something similar.
I'm requesting that computer entries should be able to be adjusted through the console for cases when the computer name imported is not accurate to the "Sharing" name on the Mac or if an entry simply needs to be corrected after a name change or something like that. Thanks
