Networking: Bandwidth / Traffic Quota
Add the ability for administrators to specify bandwidth limits for users and IP addresses in regards to how much they can consume during a certain time period, certain hard limit, or on a certain service/proxy.. Gives the option to control bandwidth usage on the AxG so that admins can better manage their internet connection and control overusage and heavy users, especially during certain times.
I need a means of establishing a time based limit or data volume limit for users.
Monitoring, and limitation of upload trafic of dedicated clients and servers via ASL 8.306 (e. g. # MB/day)
Backround: detection of trojans with ofice data copying activities
if you set up or define new feature for specify Ration traffic of downloading for specific user or IP (standard or transparent http proxy login ) like bsplitter.com , it must simultaneously with bandwidth splitter , is is useful .
if you set up or define new feature for limiting bandwidth for specific user or IP (standard or transparent http proxy login) like bsplitter.com , so astaro will be complete internet controller.
So we can find out when somebody tries to copy our DB over a leak like it happend to Sony. A Mails with a warning would be fine!
Need to restrict Bandwidth per user/group using time based acl.
Often we have got the problem that one specific user is downloading a huge file from the internet. Sometimes the connection to the remote server is quite good so that this download can take the whole bandwith.
It would be very comfortable to have a user based realtime bandwith monitor. It could be coupled with a user based bandwith limit.
A bandwith limit pert user, ip, iprange and more.
Set a bandwith limit for them
We allow certain users streaming media access. However one user leaves his web browser up 24/7. An inactivity monitor where any web session get ended after X minutes.
Right now we allow Internet acess via a timed event hat is described as 23hrs and 50mins and have blackout 10 minutes after work hours to disconnect all existing/forgotten sessions which works, but some sites auto-resume etc.
Add bandwidth limit to the proxy service based on user authentication (Internal or directory based).
This feature is included in the upcoming release, code-named Project Copernicus. It is currently in public beta. For more details, please see https://www.astaro.org/beta-versions/project-copernicus-public-beta

It should be in UTM9 too.
We need this also in UTM9!

Any update on when and if this feature will be implemented? We have customers that have satellite connection and also VSAT on yacht this feature is a deal breaker. Over the past year we have lost about 9 deals to Kerio Control as it has this feature to allocate and control bandwidth for users.

very good feature that is important.
It'll be so useful to give a user a BW Limit like the credit limit. After the limit is finished he can't browse.

Please add this!!!
very good feature that is important
Integration with PaperCut would be fantastic. PaperCut's interface is very intuitive and combining printing and internet quotas/charging into the one interface would be extremely useful, not only for admins but for users also.
Great for controlling bandwidth abuse

Clearwire is in the business of delivering people unlimited, fast, mobile 4G internet. In order to ensure that every customer receives the highest level of service, we must take certain measures to allow us to provide the services our customers deserve. One of these measures is a network management system.
Lately we have seen an increase in conversation around our network management practices. This is likely due to recent enhancements that have been made to our network management system in order to ensure the best possible experience for the vast majority of users.
The recent enhancements make our network management system more dynamic, surgical, and selective than ever before. It is dynamic in that it constantly evaluates the conditions of the network and only responds at times of high network utilization to deliver the best experience possible to the most customers. It is surgical in that it can evaluate and respond to highly localized areas on an as-needed basis, often isolated to a specific tower. It is selective in that it only effects the heaviest users, who make up a small fraction of our customer base, during limited times of high demand for shared resources. The heaviest users are users who consume nearly 10 times the amount of data as the average user.
This system does not target users who utilize specific applications like file sharing or streaming video nor is it triggered when a customer hits a specific usage threshold. Remember – unlimited means unlimited. During times of high network utilization our network management system may limit speeds, but we never limit the amount of data a customer with an unlimited data plan may use. The algorithm in place reviews several factors including long and short-term usage, current network capacity, and network demand to determine if network management needs to be applied.
The end result is that a few heavy users temporarily give up some speed during limited times of high demand so that everyone can have a good experience. A majority of customers are having a positive experience and experiencing faster speeds during times of greatest demand since these enhancements were enacted.

This would be fantastic to have and take away one more of untangle's advantages

being able to limit bandwidth by user or group is a requirement of one of my customers and requested by another customer. without the ability to do this, I may lose the sale of an ASG to a customer.

Even the home version of NetNanny has the ablilty to quotas. This is a make or break deal for network/web security and usage.
